Q&A With Psychic “Long Island Medium”
With the second season of the hit series TLC’s “Long Island Medium” underway, the New York Post recently sat down with the popular Psychic Reader for a Question & Answer session (as reported by nypost.com).
We caught up with Caputo to ask her a few questions:
Q: Do you see dead people?
A: Yes, but in a different way than you would think.
Q: How old were you when you first started hearing [from the dead]?
A: I can remember the age of four. I couldn’t sleep away from own house when I was a child. I would have these night terrors, but now [I know] it was spirits trying to communicate with me.
Q: How does it all work?
A: I don’t know how it works. I can’t explain it. Things are just there.
Q: Do spirits actually speak to you?
A: Sometimes I hear things clear as day. My main communication is through feeling.
Q: Do you ever expect the reaction you get from people?
A: Even if people believe or understand what I do and they come for a reading a lot of times they will leave saying, “I never expected it to be like that.” My wish, for someone who is placed in my path, is [that] I want them to have the experience or the message that will give them the most healing to be able to continue and to move on with their life without their loved ones.
Q: It appears your husband puts up with a lot?
A: I’ve been with my husband since I was 18 and he watched me go through my anxiety and how it was progressively getting worse and when I first told him … I speak to dead people and I feel better … he was like, “Hey if that makes you feel better go ahead, hon. Knock yourself out.”
Q: Are there times when it’s not a gift?
A: Yeah, because I feel anxious a lot for no reason. People always say I wish, “I was you, I wish I could do what you do,” and I always say be careful what you wish for because I’m just blessed because of … the love and support I have of my family that I really am able to be who I am.

The Sick Visit “Psychic Surgeon” John of God In Brazil
John of God is world renowned as a spiritual healer and “psychic surgeon” who claims to be able to cure people of such diseases and ailments as cancer, AIDS, blindness and tumors just by having them to visit in a room at his compound in Brazil for meditation.
As recently reported by newsday.com, John of God (Joao de Deus) offers Psychic healing techniques to the Sickly in Brazil.
John of God grabs what looks like a kitchen knife from a silver tray and appears to scrape it over the right eye of a believer.
The “psychic surgeon” then wipes a viscous substance from the blade onto the patient’s shirt.
The procedure is repeated on the left eye of Juan Carlos Arguelles, who recently traveled thousands of miles from Colombia to see the healer.
For 12 years, Arguelles says, he suffered from keratoconus, which thinned his cornea and severely blurred his vision.
John of God is Joao Teixeira de Faria, a 69-year-old miracle man and medium to those who believe. He’s a dangerous hoax to those who do not.
For five decades he’s performed “psychic” medical procedures like that for Arguelles. He asks for no money in exchange for the procedures. Donations are welcomed, however.
Those who have given up on traditional medicine now flock to Abadiania, Brazil to visit John of God.
The sick and lame who have hit dead ends in conventional medicine are drawn to Abadiania, a tiny town in the green highlands of Goias state, southwest of the capital of Brasilia.
Faria says he’s not the one curing those who come to him. “It’s God who heals. I’m just the instrument.”
“Psychic surgeons” are mostly concentrated in Brazil and the Philippines with roots in spiritualist movements that believe spirits of the dead can communicate with the living. Like Faria, they often appear to go into a trance while doing their work, allowing God, dead doctors or other spirits to flow through them.
Such practices have been roundly denounced.
The American Cancer Society has said practitioners of psychic surgery use sleight of hand and animal body parts during procedures to convince patients that what ails them has been snatched away.
But Arguelles, the 29-year-old Colombian who had his eyes worked on by John of God, doesn’t care what the medical establishment says.
A week after visiting Brazil and undergoing the procedure, he said his vision had improved “by 80 percent” and was getting better each day.
