Do you ever feel like your gift is a “curse”? Why?
I am thankful for my gift but when I was younger I would have considered it a curse. It was confusing growing up without an insider’s tips on having psychic abilities. Realizing that my abilities were a gift took maturity.
During your time as a detective, did you ever use your ability to help solve a crime?
My time in crime scene investigation was on a forensic level, so I never used my abilities to help solve crimes. That’s not what we did. In addition, I wanted to keep my gift a secret because I was a woman working in man’s profession and felt I should avoid drawing more attention to myself.
Did you ever connect with a loved one? How did that go?
I connect with my loved ones on a daily basis. Most of the time, it’s just for a brief moment but at least it’s something. My father passed away in 2001 from leukemia and we were extremely close. Now he comes to visit me a couple times a week and it gives me great comfort.
How do you use your gift in your roles as mother and wife?
Once in a while, I’ll sit a loved one down for a reading so that I can see if anything negative is coming up in their life. I do this to protect them because I see myself as not only a mom but their guardian angel.
Do you think that everyone has the ability to channel the dead but doesn’t know it?
I believe that people who allow themselves to be open to messages from the other side can receive them. But as far as everyone being psychic mediums, there are only a select few.
While connecting with someone on the other side, have you ever learned something that really shocked or scared you?
Receiving messages from spirit has never really shocked or scared me, especially now that I’m older. I’m extremely comfortable in my own skin. But a wise person once told me, it’s the living that you need to look out for, not the dead.
Do you sense any common themes in terms of the messages dead people want to send to their loved ones?
I would say that the common theme would be closure because people are taken from us to randomly and suddenly. Most of my clients just want to know that his or her loved one is all right and happy on the other side.
Does working with dead people make you less scared of death and what’s on the other side?
I’m not afraid of death because I came close to it already and face it every day. It’s our natural cycle of life and there’s nothing you can do about it. As far as what’s on the other side, I can’t tell you that now but I’ll send a message once I’m gone.
Do you see what “the other side” looks like? If so, what’s it like?
When spirit comes through, they aren’t always clear, but the image still resembles the person we love. From what I can see, the place looks and feels magical.
Are your abilities still evolving? How have they changed over the years?
With age, the gift gets stronger because you’ve learned how to use it.
From curses, to intuition as a former police detective, to antics at “The Craft,” psychic Tia Belle isn’t just another “Long Island Medium” and the new show offers viewers a unique perspective into the life of the New Jersey psychic and tarot card reader which is sure to become a staple series.
